7.8 Coolant Circuit, General, High-Temperature Circuit
7.8.1 Engine coolant – Level check
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
☑ MTU Fluids and Lubricants Specifications (A001063/..) are available.
WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
Coolant-level check at filler neck:
1.
Turn breather valve on coolant expansion
tank counterclockwise to the first stop and
allow pressure to escape.
2.
Continue to turn breather valve counter‐
clockwise and remove.
3.
Check coolant level (coolant must be visible
at the lower edge of the cast-in eye or at
the marking plate).
4.
Top up with treated coolant as necessary
(→ Page 53).
5.
Check breather valve (visual inspection)
and clean if necessary.
6.
Place breather valve on filler neck and
close.
Coolant-level check by means of level sensor:
1.
Switch on engine control system and check readings on the display.
2.
Top up with treated coolant as necessary (→ Page 53).
