Connect a USB keyboard to the media player.
If the media player is in standalone mode it will automatically boot from the USB stick.

Using a rescue USB stick with a media player in standalone mode
To do this you will need a USB keyboard.
The media player must be in standalone mode to use the USB rescue stick. If the media player is in
centrally managed mode you first have to set the unit in standalone mode by entering the setup
menu (default user name “installer” and password “pass”, see section 7). If the media player is in
managed mode when using the USB rescue stick the USB stick will get reformatted and will
become a part of the media player internal memory. If this should happen you will need to create a
new USB rescue stick.
Put the USB stick into one of the USB ports of the media player and then power up the unit.
The media player will now reboot from the memory stick and the new firmware will be installed in
the unit. When the installation is done you will be prompted to press the “Enter” key on the USB
keyboard to shut down the media player. (Note that the media player may go to sleep state during
the upgrade process. If so, press the “Space” key on the USB keyboard to activate the display.)
Before restarting the media player by detaching the power cable to the unit and then re-inserting it
once more, you must detach the USB stick. Otherwise the software installation process will
recommence when the media player is restarted.
Figure 6. After the software installation is done you need to press the “Enter” key to switch off the media
player.
When the media player is restarted it will be in factory state with the new firmware and you will
need to make an initial installation according to the instructions in section “4 Initial setup”.
