2.2. Operating principles
It is necessary to have a sound understanding of the operating principle in order to use it properly:
The air handling unit is intended to reduce the condensation phenomena in the premises. The principle consists of blowing
sufficient air as needed under low pressure in the parts to be treated.
This principle is based on the fact that moving air dries the walls (principle used in industry in particular to defog car
windows).
A fundamental need arises to understand the other action of the system: The interior air is first and foremost more or less
humid exterior air, by
laden, in addition to the humidity it already contains, with that produced by the
use of the premises
(cooking fumes, baths and showers, effusions of the human body, etc.).
The insufflations system will therefore make it possible to renew this polluted interior air by fresh exterior air, by pushing
the exhaust air towards openings created for its discharge.
Furthermore, heating this exterior air before insufflating it will reduce the relative humidity.
The quantity of humidity that air can contain is directly related to its temperature: the hotter the air the more humidity it can
contain.
It is therefore very important to maintain a regular temperature by avoiding significant
variations
(day / night period, for example, or occupied/non-occupied premises). Furthermore, lowering the heating
substantially conserves energy of course, but also entails consuming far more when you want to restore a comfortable
temperature than would be needed to heat all the structural elements and the furniture.
The installer sets the unit according to the volumes of the rooms to be treated and the location of the AHU. He cannot take
account of your lifestyle (frequent opening of doors, propensity of various household appliances to create water vapours,
more or less intensive use of the sanitary facilities).
You can adjust the temperature, air flow, pre-programmed mode and other such settings to suit your lifestyle.
In any event, your AHU should operate continuously maintain a constant movement.
