Cooking on the raclette
For a typical Swiss-style raclette, you need 200–300 g of raclette cheese with at
least 45% fat for each person.
Potatoes boiled in their skins are the main side dish. Pearl onions and gherkins are
also served. Air-dried meat, raw ham, salami and other spicy sausages taste great
with the cheese.
The cheese is cut into 5 mm thick slices. Place a slice of cheese in a pan, place the
pan in the appliance and the cheese begins to melt. Once the cheese has turned
golden brown, you pour it over the potatoes.
Chocolate fondue
150 g chocolate fondue or couverture chocolate
Fruit according to your preference or taste
Wash and peel the fruit, if necessary, and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Break the
chocolate into small pieces and add these to the fondue pot. Place the pot in the
recess on the ribbed surface of the reversible hot plate.
As soon as the chocolate has melted, thread the fruit pieces onto the fondue
skewers and dip the fruit in the chocolate.
Note: Stir the chocolate occasionally so that it warms up evenly. Take care not to
overheat the chocolate and switch off the appliance before this happens.
Use only couverture or chocolate for melting that is suitable for chocolate
fountains or chocolate fondue.
Please note: The fondue pot will get very hot when the appliance is switched on
and will also remain hot for some time after the appliance has been switched off.
Don‘t touch the pot as it get hot when using.
Let cool down the pot or use gloves, when you take away the pot from the the
hot plate. Please take care when handling the fondue pot as it can get very hot.
Either leave it to cool down first or use a pan holder if you want to take it off the
reversible hot plate.
Cleaning and care
Caution – risk of burning!
Switch off the appliance, remove the mains plug and allow the appliance to cool
down.
Clean the reversible hot plate in lukewarm water using washing-up liquid and a
brush.
Do not use abrasives, metal scourers or oven cleaner.
For easy cleaning, you can wash the small pans, maxi pan and raclette spatulas in
the dishwasher.
You need to bear in mind that water can collect in the bottom of the fondue
bowl after it has been cleaned. That’s why you need to quickly turn the bowl
around and let the water run out through the holes in the bottom. Then put the
bowl on a water-resistant surface so that the remaining water can drain away.
Never immerse the main appliance in water or use water to clean it. Simply put a
little washing-up liquid on a damp cloth, wipe the appliance and then dry it.
