Thrust bearing is a component of the screw compressor that is playing the most important role.
This component's assembly/adjustment quality could affect the compressor performance or cause
problems. Be very careful when assembling/adjusting this part.

is a face-to-face angular
contact ball bearing. This bearing only receives
thrust load and does not receive the radial load
perpendicular to the shaft because there is a gap
between the outer ring of the thrust bearing and the
bearing head. Apart from receiving the thrust load,
the bearing has the important role of securing the
position of the gap between the rotor and the
discharge side of the bearing head. This gap (end
clearance) is significantly linked with performance.

5.6.8.1 Disassembly
a) Lift off the rotation stopper claw of the lock washer

bearing to the rotor shaft. After that, remove the thrust washer

b) Remove the hexagon head bolt

In case of a former model which uses a rotation stopper fitting instead of a conical spring washer,
extend the claw of the rotation stopper and remove it from the hexagon head blot

remove the hexagon head bolt and the gland.
c) There is a gap between the outer ring of the thrust bearing and the bearing head. Since the inner
ring of the bearing slides on to the rotor axis, bend the tip of a wire with diameter of 2 to 3 mm, insert
it between the outer ring and the ball retainer, and hook it onto the thrust bearing to pull it out.
d) Attached to the inside of the thrust bearing are; thrust bearing outer race spacer
