2. All pad-mounted transformers connected to the MV loop should be electrically
disconnected using the oil-emerged LBOR switches
If LBOR switches are not present, it is recommended that all loads on the
secondary side of the transformer are isolated
3. All staff should be cleared from the field, and remain outside the energized area
until the Safety Officer has determined staff main re-enter the field
4. All commissioning staff and electrical support staff should conduct a safety briefing
that includes:
a. A full review the energization procedure
b. A review of the electrical isolation locations and methods in the event of
abnormal operation
c. A review of all required PPE and tools required applicable to the procedure
d. The written assignment of procedure tasks to specific qualified staff members
e. A written communication plan that includes who will coordinate the procedures
execution and the halt-of the procedure in the event of abnormal operation
f. A review of on-site and local emergency response resources, including: fire
extinguishers, first aide kits, first responders, hospitals, police, fire, and EMS.
myPV ClearSky Commissioning Tools & PPE Required:
1. Multimeter (120V AC RMS and 24V DC Capable Readings)
2. Class 00 or 0 Rubber Gloves w/ Leather Protectors (500V AC, 1,000V AC
Respectively)
3. Hardhat, Eye Protection, FR Clothing, and Hard-Toe Work Boots Recommended
This user manual does not address the PPE or tools required by the medium voltage
(MV) crews or electrical staff performing the interconnection energization steps due to
that equipment being outside the scope of this manual and equipment. Customer’s
should consult their MV contractor for appropriate support.
