Balance fine adjustment
A lot of manufacturers often regard balance control as not
mandatory. At Nagra, we believe it is useful to adjust any minor
left/right level shift, typical of LP cutting for example.
The CLASSIC PREAMP balance control is intended for fine
adjustments only i.e. up to 3 dB, that could affect the left/right
balance. This is the reason why it is not possible to completely
mismatch the balance i.e. no sound at all on one channel while
music is playing on the other.
The balance is adjusted with the remote control.
Tube ageing
Nagra is selecting the CLASSIC PREAMP tubes according to exacting
criteria. Their theoretical minimum useful life is 5’000 hours.
Actually, some tubes operate consistently for more than 10’000
hours.
