Version 1 July-08

It is advisable to use a thin filter to avoid filings, dust or any other object to go into and

damage the pump.

Lubrication: it is very important to control periodically the oil level. It must be checked

with the pump on, and in vacuum. The oil level must be approximately at the middle of
the sight glass

(1.4)

.

ATTENTION: Verify always that the oil level is correct since an excess of oil will pro-

duce a wrong operation of the pump.

Oil change

The oil change must be performed whenever the colour of the oil has changed and must

be always done with the pump off and warmed. For this purpose proceed as follows:

Open the oil outlet

(1.5)

and drain the oil.

Close again the oil outlet

(1.5)

and switch the pump on for 1 minute approximately, to

let the remaining oil inside the pump to be removed.

Stop the pump, repeat the process to drain the remaining oil and close the oil outlet (5).
Add new oil through the oil inlet

(1.3)

until the level reaches the middle of the glass

sight

(1.4)

.

With the pump on and in vacuum, verify that the oil level is correct.

Note: Always use a type of oil suitable for vacuum pumps.

Gas ballast valve

Nahita high vacuum pumps are provided with a gas ballast valve

(1.6)

to avoid the oil

emulsion with agents such as moisture, gases, condensed vapours, etc.

If you are not using the pump for a long period of time please make sure it is discon-

nected from the net and protected from dust (this way you will avoid accidents and will
extend its working-life).

Security

The pump must be used by previously qualified staff that knows how the equipment

works thanks to the user manual.

Put the pump on top of a horizontal, plane and stable surface so as vibrations produced

during operation do not disturb nearby equipments. The back side of the pump must be
perfectly ventilated and free of obstructions.

Do not put the pump near any warm supply (burners, blowlamps…), nor expose it

directly to the sun, etc. Avoid vibrations, dust and dry environments.

During operation, flammable liquids must be out of the working area.
When you are not using the pump for a long period of time please make sure it is

unplugged in order to avoid possible accidents.

It is essential to have the equipment switched off and unplugged from the net before

cleaning, checking components or replacing any piece.

Never try to repair the pump by yourself, since you will lose the warranty and may pro-

voke damages to the general operating system or the electrical installation, as well as inju-
ries to the people that usually handle the equipment (burns, hurts…).
