4. Handling Procedure
Charge timing
Charge the battery at the following timing:
When the forklift is fully operated every day
When daily operation time of the forklift is short
Charging place
Do not use the battery until it is completely exhausted. (Avoid discharging the battery excessively.)
If the battery is discharged until the forklift does not run, the battery service life will be shortened.
Do not charge the battery more than required. (Avoid charging the battery excessively.)
Do not use the battery with the battery electrolyte consumed.
Conduct the normal charging every day after completion of work. If the daily “normal charging” is not enough,
conduct supplementary charging in an intermission (lunch break, etc.).
Count a number of days until the battery discharge meter’s indication becomes lower than a half level after the
battery is fully charged, and conduct the normal charging at the interval of the relevant number of days.
While the battery is charged, hydrogen gas is generated from the battery. Battery charging should be conducted in a
well-ventilated place where hydrogen gas will not remain and free from exposure to rain.
To charge the battery indoors, use through caution to ensure ventilation. (Install a ventilation fan, etc.)
If the battery is re-charged when it is fully charged, the battery service life will be shortened.
As a typical example, if the normal recharging is conducted every day for the battery whose daily
operating time is short, it results in shortened battery service life.
If the battery electrolyte volume becomes smaller than the specified level, the battery electrodes will be
damaged. Check the battery electrolyte volume every day, and replenish purified water as required.
