SOS – receipt of request for assistance
The request is only displayed in vehicles: that are on the same Special Stage, that are on the Special
Stage between the start and the vehicle that has requested assistance, that are at a distance of 1 to
2000 m away from the vehicle in distress.
All cars that capture the request pass this on to the rally control center or to the next car in sequence.
The distance is updated each time a radio message or internal data of distance travelled is received.
At the same time, there will be an audio signal. The audio signal is cancelled by pressing the
confirmation button once. Pressing it a second time will cancel the SOS display and the previous
screen (Special Stage, Transfer) will be displayed. If the vehicle that sent the SOS continues to send
a SOS signal, the siren will again start to sound (and the display show SOS) in cars that are
approaching the vehicle sending the SOS. This means that the SOS display cannot be discarded.
This alert only ends once the car has passed the car sending the SOS signal. The distance is updated
each time a radio message or internal data of distance travelled is received.

Break-down in communication of SOS button with unit
A break-down in communication of the SOS button with the unit is signified by the icon in the top
left-hand corner of the display. This refers to a break-down message that signifies that the SOS and
OK buttons are not working. At the same time this status is reported by the unit to the rally control
center. For the crew this means that they cannot confirm any messages. All messages will sound
audibly until they expire. This lack of communication will not have any influence on the sending
of accident or obstacle on the route messages.
