Sulphur Content for Tier 2 and Stage II Engines
•
Use of diesel fuel with sulfur content less than 2000
mg/kg (2000 ppm) is RECOMMENDED.
•
Use of diesel fuel with sulfur content 2000—5000
mg/kg (2000—5000 ppm) REDUCES the oil and filter
change interval.

Sulfur Content for Other Engines
•
Use of diesel fuel with sulfur content less than 5000
mg/kg (5000 ppm) is RECOMMENDED.
• Use of diesel fuel with sulfur content greater than
5000 mg/kg (5000 ppm) REDUCES the oil and filter
change interval.
IMPORTANT!
Do not mix used diesel engine oil or any other type of lu
-
bricating oil with diesel fuel.
Improper fuel additive usage may cause damage on fuel
injection equipment of diesel engines.
LUBRICITY OF DIESEL FUEL
Most diesel fuels manufactured in the United States,
Canada, and the European Union have adequate lubricity
to ensure proper operation and durability of fuel injection
system components. However, diesel fuels manufactured
in some areas of the world may lack the necessary
lubricity.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure the diesel fuel used in your machine demon-
strates good lubricity characteristics.
Fuel lubricity should pass a maximum scar diameter of
0.52 mm as measured by ASTM D6079 or ISO 12156-1.
A maximum scar diameter of 0.45 mm is preferred.
