Won’t pick up bobbin thread
Needle height or clearance out of adjustment See instruction manual.
Bobbin tension incorrect
Check tension.
Damaged bobbin tension spring
Replace spring.
Needle in wrong
Check needle.
Too short of thread lead from bobbin case
Leave 2” of lead.
Bobbin thread breaks
Bad bobbin
Check thread strength.
Burr on shuttle hook or race cover or bad
bobbin case spring
Check each item.
Stitch misses top or bottom of binding
Change in type of binding tape
Check.
Cannot use cotton binding in polyester folder Check.
Carpet too thick
Bevel carpet.
Need to adjust folder position
See instruction manual.
Bobbin thread loose on bottom of binding
Damaged or loose bobbin tension spring
Check spring.
Dirt between bobbin tension spring and bob-
bin case
Remove spring and clean surfaces
Bobbin case pops out
Bobbin case not latched
Check.
Latch spring broken
Check latch and spring.
Needle clearance too wide
Check adjustment.
Carpet curling
Binding tape too tight

Machine won’t start
Circuit breaker tripped
Ensure no other equipment is running off the
breaker and reset breaker.
Power cord disconnected
Check for damaged cords/plugs, ensure
cords are properly connected.
Ground fault related failure
Ensure ground fault protection devices are
properly functioning and installed. Reset
ground fault protection device.
Loose wiring block or wires
Plug in completely.
Loose fuse.
Plug in completely and turn.
Internal component failure
Contact NFE for service.
