Understanding IP Ratings

Proper use and installation of an NI WSN-32

xx

device in an NI WSN-3291 outdoor IP enclosure

provides a minimum IP rating of IP65 from harsh outdoor and industrial environments. An IP rating
of IP65 protects against entry by dust particles and low pressure water jets.

The two-digit ingress protection (IP) rating is defined by the IEC 60529 standard and specifies the
degree to which the enclosures protect against the intrusion of solid particles (represented by the
first number) and water (represented by the second number).

Table 2 lists the degree of protection.

Environmental Management

NI is committed to designing and manufacturing products in an environmentally responsible manner.
NI recognizes that eliminating certain hazardous substances from our products is beneficial to the
environment and to NI customers.

For additional environmental information, refer to the

which NI complies, as well as other environmental information not included in this document.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

EU Customers

At the end of the product life cycle, all products

must

be sent to a WEEE recycling

center. For more information about WEEE recycling centers, National Instruments WEEE initiatives,
