Possible Cause
What to Do
PXI-1011 chassis is not
connected to power source
Make sure that the PXI-1011 is connected
to a live electrical outlet. Try operating
another piece of equipment from this
outlet.
System power switch is not
switched on
Set the system power switch to the On
position.
SCXI power switch is not
switched on
Set the SCXI power switch to the On
position.
Short circuit condition
exists
Remove all the module from the chassis.
Carefully inspect all the wiring and
remove the short circuit condition.
Circuit breaker is tripped
Reset the circuit breaker. Refer to the
Resetting the AC Main Circuit Breaker
section in this chapter.
Power supply has failed
Contact National Instruments.
I f the circuit breaker trips again, perform the following steps:
1. T u r n off the system power switch.
2. Remove all modules from the chassis.
3. Depress the circuit breaker to reset it.
4. T u r n on the system power switch and verify that the circuit breaker
does not trip.
5. Ve r i f y that your PXI-1011 can meet the power requirements of your
CompactPCl or PXI modules. Overloading the chassis can trip the
breaker. Refer to Appendix A,
Specifications,
for power requirements.
6. T h e over-current condition that caused the circuit breaker to trip may
be due to a faulty CompactPCl or PXI module. Refer to your module
documentation to troubleshoot your modules.
Troubleshooting the PXI-1011
Refer to Table 3-1 to troubleshoot the PXI-1011 chassis. The table lists
possible causes for power failure and recommends ways to correct the
problem.
