6. Installing the SCXI Hardware
Rear Connectors
SCXI switches have two types of rear connectors that differentiate their
cabling schemes: a 10-pin and a 50-pin connector. Refer to Table 1 and
look at the back of the switch module to determine how many pins are on
the rear connector.

SCXI Controllers
SCXI switch modules require a controller cabled to one of the SCXI
modules in a system. Before installing an SCXI switch module, refer to
Table 1 to ensure that your controller supports your switch and identify the
cable adapter kit(s) needed for connecting the controller directly to the
switch module.
Note
If you are using a PXI-1010 or PXI-1011 chassis and install the switch controller in
the rightmost PXI slot, no cables are required between the controller and SCXI switch.
