1.
Switch the power to the Edger to the
OFF
position.
2.
Connect one meter lead to the RED wire at the base of the Mercury
Relay.
3.
Connect the other lead to any large White neutral wire.
4.
Switch the power to the
ON
position.
When the power is switched on 115 volts AC (230 VAC where applicable) should be
read on the meter. The edger
DOES NOT
have to be cycled to check this voltage. If no
voltage is present at the relay input, the RED wire should be checked for breaks. If input
voltage is present, the DC Trigger voltage should be verified.
DC trigger voltage-
1.
Connect the RED meter lead to the White/Red wire of the four
conductor plug at the base of the relay.
2.
Connect the BLACK meter lead to the Orange wire of the same plug.
3.
Ensure the meter is set to the DC voltage scale. Close the casetop and
cycle the edger.
24 volts DC should read on the meter. If voltage is present, replacement of the relay
is indicated. If no trigger voltage is present, the wires should be checked from the plug to the
control for breaks. If no breaks are found, replacement of the control panel is indicated.
CUTTER MOTOR MOVES INTO THE ROUGHING POSITION BUT NOT INTO
BEVELING POSITION (i.e. ONLY GIVES RIMLESS CUT):
A.
Rimless switch is depressed.
Ensure that the rimless switch is not depressed.
If activated, the switch should be lit.
B.
Insufficient tracking pressure.
Ensure that the tracking pressure is set in
accordance with the maintenance and operating specifications.
C.
Faulty tracking cylinder.
Disconnect the air from the right side of the edger.
Manually extend and retract the Lens Tracking Cylinder Shaft in a slow
steady manner. The shaft should move smoothly, in both directions, through
its range of travel. If not, replacement of the cylinder is indicated.
CUTTER MOTOR MOVES INTO THE BEVELING POSITION BUT WILL NOT
BEVEL THE LENS:
