Desiccator replacement
Both the Optics Pod and the Electronics pod contain
sensitive electronic components which must be kept in a
low humidity environment.
To ensure that the environments are maintained at this
low humidity requirement, the pods include breather
desiccators located in three locations on the ZephIR
system.
Two of these breather desiccators are located in the optics
pod and the third in the electronics pod.
The gauge on the front of the breather desiccator should
be blue at all times. In the event that the gauge is red,
this indicates the need for a replacement cartridge.
Optics Pod Desiccant Replacement
Two breather desiccators are included in the optics pod,
the first is located on the top face of the system next to
the window wiper as shown in the figure below;
Step 1: Power the unit down and then place an adjustable
spanner over the main desiccant housing as per picture
shown below.
Step 2: Unscrew the main desiccant housing until it can
be carefully removed from the top of the ZephIR unit.
Warning - The desiccant holder is extremely fragile and will
break if it is knocked to hard while removing it, resulting
in the desiccant falling into the inner workings of the
ZephIR
Step 3: Once removed from the ZephIR you will see the
main desiccant holder which is the white section.
Warning - the white section is extremely fragile and will
break very easily. Please see picture below.
Step 4: Carefully hold the top of the desiccator (the part
that the adjustable spanner was attached to) and the black
area just below the screw thread. Unscrew the top section
from the bottom section. See picture below.
