NTRODUCTION
Controller NELBC-1 is designed to be installed in three-phase electric boilers having up to two
electric heating elements - for heating and for domestic hot water (DHW). In its complete
configuration the controller consists of executive module NEWHC1-3-2 to which all components of
the heating system are connected, two modules NEWHC1-3-2_TC that control three-phase electric
heating elements, one for heating and one for DHW, and control module NRC-8 MV that provides
boiler's status visualization and allows setup and control of boiler's operation. Optionally an
additional control module NRC-8 SV may be connected. It functions as a room thermostat as well
as a spare terminal for boiler's basic control and display of its status. The controller may be used as
well in boilers that have only heating or only DHW function. In this case only the components of
the active function have to be connected and only one NEWHC1-3-2_TC is needed.
NELBC-1 allows flexible control of boiler's heating elements providing maximum comfort and
energy savings at the same time. Modern user-friendly touch interface with gesture recognition
provides easy navigation throughout information screens and settings menu. Context-dependent
virtual keypad and icons that represent the function of each button makes the controller fast and
easy to setup and operate. The user can directly set required heating temperature at the moment or
configure the weekly programmer for automatic adjustment of comfort temperature in required
time-span of the day. A complete configuration boiler may operate in combined mode - heating and
DHW, only heating or only DHW mode.
The controller continuously analyzes the data from sensors that are connected to it and the
measured electrical values and when deviation in normal operation of boiler is registered the
corresponding error message is displayed. The controller keeps diagnostics records of registered
events containing date, time and description of the event. Most of these events require user
intervention or service and are therefore accompanied by audible signal.
NELBC-1 has a built-in algorithm to analyze whether the electric heating elements are in working
order. When this function is activated, during boiler operation the controller analyzes the measured
voltages, currents and power and signals when registering anomalies that may be caused by a faulty
heating element.
The controller allows, if necessary, the output of the heaters to be further limited, separately for
heating and for domestic hot water, for the purpose of economy or due to limitations of the
electrical installation. Besides heating elements, the controller also controls the circulation pump of
the heating installation. Also, with the help of the corresponding sensor it monitors the pressure in
the system and, if the values are outside the set range, displays an error message, activates an
audible alarm, and stops the heaters and the pump in an emergency at low pressure, which is most
likely due to a leak in the heating system. The controller has a built-in function to protect the
heating installation from freezing, which can be activated if necessary
In addition to heating, the boiler can be used for screed drying, by activating a special mode with a
temperature profile that can be configured according to the user's needs.
The built-in Wi-Fi module allows remote monitoring and control of the boiler via the Internet
through the Naturela Smart Home system.
