Fishfinder Window
FISHFINDER WINDOW
The Fishfinder window, which is available when the GEONAV
is connected to the fishfinder black-box unit supplied, allows
displaying the data relative to the objects detected by the unit
in the sea area below the boat. The unit works thanks to the
Sonar technology, which measures the echo originated by the
transmission of a high-frequency sound signal. The trans-
ducer that is mounted on the boat’s keel and pointed towards
the seabed generates the signal. The echo measured provides
detailed information on the distance between the keel and
the seabed, the type of material forming the seabed (mud, rock,
etc.) and the possible presence of obstructions (banks of fish,
etc.) between the boat’s keel and the seabed.
The signal processed by the unit is displayed in graphic form,
where the strength of the echoes detected is represented in
different colors. In this representation, the coloring of the
seabed outline and suspended obstructions, if any, provides
information on their nature. Appropriately adjust the COLOR
LINE and SENSITIVITY param-
eters (see the SETUP menu) to
vary the signal dynamics asso-
ciated with the different colors,
so as to increase or decrease the
unit’s sensitivity to weaker or
stronger returns.
The standard window displays
the following data:
•
Boat’s speed
•
Water temperature
•
Depth
•
Seabed outline, with sus-
pended obstructions (if any)
