UPS
The UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) in the RealPOS 7456 is
formally known as Battery Backup, which is designed to support the
terminal in the event AC Power is lost. This permits sufficient time for
the terminal to finish the current transaction and perform a logical
shutdown of the Operating System, which helps to guard against disk
corruption caused by an illogical power OFF.
The power supply senses the loss of AC voltage and switches to
battery support.
The Power Supply provides limited filtering of low frequency noise
and minor AC line variations, however, it does not protect the terminal
from excessive AC Power line spikes such as some external UPS units
provide.
