Chapter 4:
Operating System Recovery
Introduction
This chapter discusses procedures on how to recover the Operating
System by using the CD-ROM drive. The software is distributed on
bootable CD-ROM media. The drivers that are necessary to run the
CD-ROM are temporarily installed during boot.
Note:
It is possible to perform a BIOS update using a network
connection. Refer to the
NCR FitClient Software User’s Guide
,
(B005-0000-1235) for information about that procedure.
Caution:
When performing an OS recovery from a larger source
image (larger disk) to a smaller destination disk, you must use a special
procedure (see the
OS Recovery from a Larger Disk Image
section).
Prerequisites
The following are required in order to perform an OS recovery from a
CD.

Bootable CD-ROM drive (internal or external)
•
Keyboard
•
CD containing Operating System image
