Description
Perform SMB Firmware
Flash
Updates the SMB with new firmware.
Note: When performed out-of-band, you will be prompted for the
filename of the SMB firmware image. When the firmware flash is
completed, you must disconnect and re-login to continue working.
SMB Firmware Image
Name
Server pathname of the new SMB firmware image.
(In-band only)
SMB Firmware Flash
Percent Complete
Percentage of the total packets of data that have been sent to the
SMB during a Flash Update Sequence. The value is reset on server
reboot.
Updating the Firmware
The firmware can be updated either through a network connection (in-band) or through a modem
connection (out-of-band).
In-band Update
To flash the firmware in-band, proceed as follows:
1. In the SMB Administration group, double-click on “SMB Firmware Image Name” to display
the path name on the server.

2. If the path name is not correct, proceed as follows:
a.
Select “SMB Firmware Image Name” and click the right mouse button.
b. Select EDIT.
c.
Type the path name for the SMB firmware file and click OK.
Note: If you chose a path other than the default when you updated the Server Management
software, you must specify the same path name.
3. Double-click on “Perform SMB Firmware Flash” to download the firmware.
Note: You can double-click on the “SMB Firmware Flash Percent Complete” attribute to
view a graph displaying the percentage of the flash that is complete.
4. When the firmware flash is complete, select “SMB Configuration” to verify that the
firmware version number is correct.
5. Check the “Modem Init String” attribute to see if it contains the characters
&F
