Troubleshooting
User Troubleshooting Procedure
•
Attempt to use one of the other enabled password(s)
•
Login to the server; remove the bouncer.dat file and restart LANDesk. This will reset the in-
band password to “calvin”.

Possible Causes
•
Line noise
•
SMB has a critical event and needs the modem to dial out
•
SMB was reset or updated with new firmware

Verify SMB and console phone connections, then reconnect

Enable console logging as described in the section titled “SMB Modem Transport Logging”
SMB Cannot Dial Out
Possible Causes
•
Phone line busy
•
Phone line not connected
•
Outbound functions disabled
•
Invalid Dial out Prefix setting and/or phone number
•
Invalid outbound destination type (IXO, console, tty, etc.)
•
Modem on an internal/inbound only phone line

Verify outbound enable setting (via in-band or out-of-band connection)
•
Verify outbound phone number setting (via in-band or out-of-band connection)
•
Verify outbound destination setting (via in-band or out-of-band connection)
•
Verify SMB Dial out Prefix setting (via in-band or out-of-band connection)
•
Verify phone line can dial out by connecting line to phone
