SMB Indication Handler Logging (Server)
To assist in troubleshooting DMI event detection problems on the server, formatted DMI
indications, as well as other informational and/or error conditions, are written to log files.
On Unix, the SMB Indication Handler writes to the Server Manager Log File
/var/ldsm/log/sm_log_mmddyy. SMB Indication Handler log entries have a unique Error Tag of
the form 6609xxx07, where xxx is a message number. Two formatted indications logged by the
SMB Indication Handler on UNIX are shown below.

On Windows NT, SMB Indication Handler logging is enabled and configured by entries in the
SMBIH.INI file (located in the Windows NT directory). The same keyword entries, as supported
by the SMB Modem Transport (Console), with the exception of “LogWindow”, are supported by
the SMB Indication Handler. An example SMBIH.INI file appears below.
[Logging]
LogFile=“Smbih.log”
LogFileBak=“Smbih.log.bak”
LogFileMaxSize=1024000
LogLevel=6
The Intel Server Monitor Service must be restarted to make any changes to the SMBIH.INI active
(i.e., Stop and start the “Intel Server Monitor” from the Sevices dialog in the Control Panel).
Two formatted indications logged by the SMB Indication Handler on Windows NT are shown
