Disassembly and Reassembly
General Information
This chapter contains step-by-step instructions for disassembling and
reassembling your system, including upgrading your system. When
reassembling your server unit, follow the disassembly procedure in reverse
order. When you disassemble any part of the server, note the orientation and
placement of any cables or shielding that you remove.
When disassembling and reassembling your server system unit, follow these
general rules.
!
WARNING
The DC push button on/off switch on the front panel does
not turn off system AC power. Also, +5vdc is present on the
system board whenever the AC power cord is connected
between the system and an AC outlet. Before performing
any procedures, first power off the DC by pushing the power
on/off button located on the front panel. Make sure your
system is powered off and the AC power cord is unplugged
from the system. Failure to disconnect power before opening
your system can result in personal injury and equipment
damage.
!
CAUTION
The server management logic on the system board monitors
system voltage changes. When powering your system up or
down, you may experience a 1- to 5-second delay from the
time you press the push button power on/off switch and your
system powering up or down. This is normal system
operation and is required by the server management logic.
!
CAUTION
Operating your system with the processor access cover
removed can damage system components. For proper
cooling and airflow, always replace the access cover before
powering on.
Note:
Your system error log will be lost, if your system
ac power source is off or disconnected.
!
When disassembling disconnect all options.
!
When handling boards or chips, touch the system unit frame to release
static.
!
Do not disassemble parts other than those specified in the procedure.
