Disassembly and Reassembly
Installing the Rack-Mount Upgrade Kit
To convert to a rack mount unit you must first reposition the diskette drive
assembly and disassemble part of the tower unit then the new rack front panel
can be installed on the unit. The parts of the tower unit to be removed are listed
below.
!
front door
!
front door catch
!
front door lock bracket
!
all hot swap SCSI hard disk drive bay doors and hinges
!
three plastic screw hole covers.

WARNING
Before doing the procedures in this subsection, make sure
that your system is powered off and unplug all AC power
cords. Failure to disconnect power before opening your
system can result in personal injury and equipment damage.
All voltage is removed only when the power cord is
unplugged.
Convert a tower unit to a rack mount unit as follows:
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at the beginning of this
chapter.
2.
Remove the front door. See
Removing the Front Door of the Tower Cabinet
earlier in this chapter.
3.
Remove the following parts of the tower (see Figure 4-6):

three plastic screw hole covers
!
front door lock bracket
!
hot swap SCSI hard disk drive bay door (both right-hand side and left-
hand side doors as appropriate)
!
hot swap SCSI hard disk drive bay door hinge (both right-hand side and
left-hand side door hinges as appropriate)
!
front door catch.
