Disassembly and Reassembly
Removing a 5 1/4-Inch Device
Remove a 5 1/4-inch device as follows (see Figure 4-33).
1.
Perform steps 1 through 4 of the previous subsection
Installing a 5 1/4-Inch
Device.
2.
Disconnect the power cable (A) and data cable (B) from the device that you
are removing.
3.
Remove the device from the media bay by releasing the two tabs on each
side of the device and carefully pull the device completely out of the bay.

4.
Place the device on an antistatic surface.
5.
Remove the device side rails from each side of the 5 1/4-inch device and
save for reinstallation later (see Figure 4-31).
6.
Place the drive in an antistatic wrapper.
7.
If installing another device perform steps 6 through 13 of the previous
subsection

, otherwise continue with the next
step.
8.
When not installing another device, attach the device side rails removed in
step 5 above to a blank panel (see Figure 4-31) and secure with four screws
(two screws per side). Then cover the empty bay by inserting the blank panel
in the bay (see Figure 4-34).
