Disassembly and Reassembly
Removing the SAF-TE Card
!
CAUTION
The SAF-TE card can be extremely sensitive to ESD
and always requires careful handling. After removing
it from the system, place it component-side up on a
nonconductive, static-free surface to prevent shorting
out. Do not slide the SAF-TE card over any surface.
To remove the SAF-TE card from the bottom of the SCSI hard disk drive bay,
perform the following procedures (see Figure 4-61).
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at the beginning of this
chapter.
2.
Power off the system. Ensure the power cords are unplugged from the AC
wall outlet.
3.
If rack-mounted system, remove the six screws securing the rack front panel
to the chassis (see Figure 4-8) and remove the panel. Set the panel and
screws aside for reassembly.
4.
If tower-based system, open the front door of the cabinet. See
Opening the
Front Door of the Tower Cabinet
in chapter 2.
5.
Remove the screw securing the SAF-TE card tray to the chassis. Set the
screw aside for reassembly.
6.
Slide the SAF-TE card tray out the front of the SCSI hard disk drive bay.
7.
Remove the two pushpins holding the SAF-TE card to the SAF-TE card
tray.
8.
Remove the SAF-TE card by sliding it forward and off the front of the tray.
Set the card tray aside for reassembly.
