System Upgrade 8-13
How to Format Disks
After replacing a hard disk that has partitions or volumes inside, the redundant configuration will
not be restored automatically. To restore the configuration, you need to format the new disk.
1.
Insert only the desired hard disk into the slot.
To avoid formatting other disks by mistake, insert only the desired hard disk into Slot 1.
2.
Insert the "ROM-DOS Startup FD" into the floppy disk drive, and start the machine.
For the creation of " ROM -DOS Startup FD," see Chapter 5, 'NEC EXPRESSBUILDER
Top Menu'-'Tool'-'Create Support Disk' of the User's Guide.
Short time after ROM-DOS starts up, the A:\ prompt will appear.
3.
Execute the FDISK command.
4.
Select 3 (Delete partition or Logical DOS Drive) from the menu.
5.
Select 4 (Delete Non-DOS Partition) from the menu, and delete the area according to the
messages.
6.
Repeat Step 5 until deleting all the areas.
7.
Press
Esc
to terminate the FDISK command when having deleted all the areas.
8.
The message "System will now restart." appears. Press any key to restart the system.
9.
When the restart processing starts, remove the "MS-DOS Startup FD" from the floppy
disk drive, and turn off the power.
