8-42 System Upgrade
Removing DIMM
Follow the procedure below to remove the DIMM. Make sure to power off the server before
installation except when replacing DIMM.
NOTE:
Unless at least two DIMMs are installed, the server does not
work.
1.
Shutdown OS.
The system turns off automatically and the POWER LED goes off.
2.
Disconnect power cord from outlet.
3.
Remove the CPU module.
4.
Open the levers on the target DIMM socket. The DIMM is unlocked and you can
remove the device.
5.
Mount the CPU module.
6.
Connect the power cable.
7.
Press the POWER switch to power on the module.
8.
Verify that POST displays no error messages.
If POST displays an error message, take a note on the massage and see the POST error
messages listed in Chapter 7.
