Appendix I Installing NEC Storage PathManager
This appendix provides the steps you should follow while installing the NEC Storage PathManager (hereinafter
referred to as PathManager) in a Windows or Linux application server.
I.1 For Windows Application Server
Use the setup CD-ROM and follow the steps below to install PathManager in a Windows application
server:
1. Turn off the power supply of the server first and then disconnect all connections between the server
and the disk array unit. When SAN boot is enabled, the server should be connected to the disk
array unit via a single connection.
2. Power on the server and log in as a user having administrative authority (built-in-administrator for
Windows Server 2008) for the server where PathManager will be installed. Insert the setup
CD-ROM of PathManager in the CD/DVD drive of the server.
3. When the message shown below or a similar message appears, click
Yes
. If no message is shown,
run “iSpmStarter.exe” located in the root directory of the setup CD-ROM of PathManager.
Figure I-1: Storage PathManager Environment Checker
“iSpmStarter.exe” must be run when PathManager is installed in a server
core environment where no messages are shown. Before running
“iSpmStarter.exe”, make sure that the current directory is the root
directory of the CD/DVD drive in which the CD-ROM is inserted.
