9-10 Upgrading Your Server
Installation
Take the following steps to install a hard disk drive. This procedure applies to all the hard disk drive
bays.
IMPORTANT:
Make sure not to apply a shock or vibration to hard disk drives.
Shock or vibration may cause failure of the hard disk drive.
The hard disk drive is extremely sensitive to static electricity. Make
sure to wear a wrist strap or touch the metal frame of the server to
discharge static electricity from your body before handling the hard
disk drive.
Do not touch from your body before handling the DIMM. Do not
touch the terminals or on-board parts of hard disk drive by a bare
hand.
3.5-inch Hard Disk Drive
Take the following steps to install a 3.5-inch hard disk drive. Steps to install a 2.5-inch hard disk
drive are described later.
1.
Loosen the two screws securing the drive carrier.
2.
Hold the lever, and pull out the drive carrier straight.
