9-14 Upgrading Your Server
DIMM
The DIMM (Dual Inline Memory Module) is installed in a DIMM socket on the mother board
installed in the server. Four sockets are located on mother board.
NOTE:
Up to 16GB (4GB × 4) of memory can be added.
IMPORTANT:
The DIMM is easily affected by static electricity. Handle the DIMM
after making your body contact with a metallic frame section of the
server to discharge the static electricity on your body. Do not make
bare hands contact with terminals and components on the DIMM. In
addition, do not put the DIMM on a desk directly. See "Static
Precautions" for details of the static electricity.
Make sure to use the DIMM authorized by NEC. Installing a third-
party DIMM may cause a failure of the DIMM as well as the server.
Repair of the server due to failures or damage resulted from
installing such a board will be charged.
The mother board in your server supports the dual channel memory configuration and Chipkill ECC
memory mode.
The dual channel memory configuration increases data transfer rate by twice (6.4 GB/s).
The Chipkill ECC memory feature can correct multi-bit error automatically.
Installation Order
Install DIMMs one by one in the ascending order of DIMM slot numbers.
