9-18 Upgrading Your Server
PCI Board
The server can have a single optional PCI board of low-profile type. To install a PCI board, you
need an optional N8116-20 PCI riser card (PCI Express (x8)).
IMPORTANT:
To install a PCI board, you need an optional N8116-20 PCI riser
card (PCI Express (x8)).
The PCI board and PCI riser card are extremely sensitive to static
electricity. Make sure to touch the metal frame of the server to
discharge static electricity from your body before handling the PCI
board or PCI riser card. Do not touch the terminals or on-board parts
of PCI board and PCI riser card by a bare hand or place them
directly on the desk. For static notes, see the section "Anti-static
Measures".
Some restrictions are imposed on the PCI board which can be
installed in the server. Contact your service representative for
details.
A riser card is designed for installing only low-profile PCI board.
Before installing a PCI board, make sure of the card specification.
NOTE:
Some PCI boards use an on-board expansion ROM. Refer to
the manual provided with the PCI board to determine whether
expansion ROM needs to be loaded. To setup the expansion ROM, use
BIOS SETUP utility. See Chanter 4 for details.
