3-26 Setting Up Your Server
TURNING ON THE SERVER
Turn on the server and follow the on-screen instructions for setup.
POWER Switch
First power on the peripheral devices, then press the POWER switch at the front of the server. The
POWER LED goes on, and POST (Power-On Self-Test) starts. The POST progress is displayed on
the monitor screen.
IMPORTANT:
Do not use hard and sharp object such as pen point to
press the POWER switch. If the POWER switch is pressed by excessive
force, it may be unable to return. In such a case, return the switch to its
original position by using pen point or the like.
POST
POST (Power On Self-Test) is the self-diagnostic program stored in the system memory.
When you power on the server, the system automatically runs POST to check the mother board,
DIMM, processor, keyboard, and mouse. POST also displays messages of the BIOS setup utility,
such as the start-up message, while in progress.
See Chapter 2 for details of POST.
