Extra Battery for RAID Controller
If a RAID Controller (N8103-171/149/150/151/152160) is installed, use the optional extra battery or flash backup
unit to avoid data loss caused by accidents including temporary blackout during a Write Back operation. The
model of the extra battery and flash backup unit to be used depends on RAID Controller.
•
For N8103-149/150/151, use N8103-154 extra battery
•
For N8103-152, use flash backup unit that comes with N8103-152
•
For N8103-160, use N8103-162 extra battery

Handling precautions
Below are the precautions to be observed whenever using the backup battery. Be sure to observe the
following, otherwise property such as data or other devices might be destroyed.
•
Use the extra battery that supports the RAID Controller used.
•
The extra battery is a very delicate electronic device. Before installation, touch the metal frame part of
the server to discharge the static electricity from your body.
•
Do not drop or bump the backup battery.
•
For recycling and disposing the backup battery, refer to the user’s guide that comes with it.

Installing N8103-154 extra battery (for N8103-149/150/151)
This section describes the procedure of installing an extra battery for RAID Controller.

Chapter 2 (1.3 Overview of Installation and Removal)
for preparations.

Chapter 2 (1.6 Removing the Top Cover)
to remove the top cover.
3.
Remove the RAID Controller. Connect
the battery control cable that comes with
extra battery to RAID Controller. When
connecting the cable, orient the cable so
that its marking will fit the connector.
4.
Remove a screw securing the riser card.
Hold the both sides of the card and lift it
straight off the server.
