TROUBLESHOOTING
If the server switch unit does not operate as required, check the unit based on the check list described
below before asking it for repair. If you find the item meeting the symptom in the list, follow the
check and processing described in the item.
If you cannot fine the proper item or any action cannot improve the malfunction, contact your service
representative.
The Power lamp blinks.

Is the AC cord connected correctly?

Check that the AC cord is connected to the server switch unit and an AC outlet (or UPS)
securely.
→
Check that the coating of the AC cord is not broken and the plug is not bent.
→
Check that the breaker of the AC outlet to which the AC cord is set to ON.

If the AC cord is connected to the UPS, check that the power of the UPS is set to ON and
the power is supplied from the UPS. Refer to the manual attached to the UPS for
details.
The keyboard and/or mouse operate incorrectly or do not operate.

Are the keyboard and mouse connected correctly to the keyboard and mouse connectors
on the server, respectively?

Check that the keyboard and mouse are connected to the proper connectors on the server.

Is the hot key mode released (the Server Selection lamp blinks)?

If not, press the
Enter
or
Esc
key to release the hot key mode.

The keyboard and mouse for the server are set up correctly?
→
Check the server is set up correctly. Refer to the User's Guide attached to the server for
details.

Is the interface cable connected correctly?
→
Check the cable connection referring to Chapter 1.
→
Check that the cable connector is not defective and any connector pin is neither bent nor
dirt. If the cable is defective, contact your service representative to request the
replacement of the cable with new one.

Are the keyboard and mouse for the NEC Express5800 server?
→
If any keyboard or mouse not approved by NEC is used, the server switch unit does not
operate normally. Use the keyboard and mouse exclusively used for the NEC
Express5800 server.
