The rear of the system has the following external connectors.

Keyboard port — attach a PS/2-compatible keyboard (101-key or 102-key) with a 6-pin
mini DIN connector to this port.
!
Mouse port — attach a PS/2-compatible mouse to this port.
!
Printer port — attach a parallel printer with a 25-pin connector to this port.
!
USB ports — use the two USB ports to connect up to 127 USB configured peripheral
devices such as a printer, monitor, modem, mouse, and scanner. A third USB port is on the
front of the system.

Serial port — serial port 1 (COM1) allows connection of serial devices with 9-pin
connectors. The devices include a pointing device, serial printer, or modem. Some systems
come with a second serial port (COM2) installed in an expansion board slot.

Fax/modem ports — some systems come with a V.90 rated PCI fax/modem board. The
fax/modem board allows the connection of a phone line to the computer for fax and data
communications functions.

VGA monitor connector — attach a video graphics array (VGA)-compatible monitor (NEC
MultiSync
®
monitor, NEC AccuSync™ monitor, or other VGA-compatible monitor) with a
15-pin connector to this connector.
!
Microphone in jack — The microphone in jack allows connection of a microphone for
recording audio information in data files.
!
Line in jack — the line in jack allows connection of a stereo audio device such as a stereo
amplifier or a cassette or minidisc player for playback or recording.
!
Line out jack — the line out jack allows connection of an amplified output device, such as
powered speakers or headset, a stereo tape recorder, or an external amplifier for audio
output.
!
MIDI/joystick — the MIDI/joystick connector allows attachment of a joystick to the system
for use with games.
!
LAN port
Some systems might have a LAN board or a CNR network board. Use the RJ-45 compatible
LAN port on the board for connecting the system to an Ethernet LAN.
