Remove the internal drive bracket from the chassis.

Tag and unplug the signal and power cables from the installed hard drive(s).
!
Remove the two screws fastening the bracket to the chassis (see the following figure).
!
Pull the bracket straight back about an inch, until it releases from the bottom of the
accessible drive cage.
!
Remove the bracket and drive from the chassis.

Remove the four screws securing the drive to the bracket and slide the drive out of the
bracket.

If installing a replacement drive, see “Installing a 3 1/2-Inch Internal Hard Drive,” next. If
not installing a replacement drive, install the bracket in the chassis.
7.
Connect the signal and power cables to all drives in the bracket.
8.
Replace the front panel and cover.
Installing a 3 1/2-Inch Internal Hard Drive
Before installing a 3 1/2-inch internal hard drive in the system, follow any preinstallation
instructions that come with the drive. For example, check the jumper settings on the device
before installing it. See the documentation that comes with the device for jumper setting
information.
Cable correctly as the first (master) or second (slave) device on the primary or secondary IDE
channel (see the table “IDE Cable Configurations” earlier in this section for sample
configurations).
The cables used for installing 3 1/2-inch internal storage devices include:
!
two-connector Ultra ATA/66/100 signal cable for one hard drive (an optional three-
connector Ultra ATA/66/100 cable is required if installing two hard drives)
!
system power cables in various lengths come from the power supply to accommodate a
variety of supported storage configurations.
