Disassembly and Reassembly
System Board
Remove the system board only if you cannot easily upgrade components on the system board
while it is within the chassis, or if you are replacing the system board.
Removing the System Board
Remove the system board as follows.
1.
Remove the cover (see “Removing the Cover”).
Before removing the cover, turn off system power and unplug the
system power cable. Power is removed only when the power cable is unplugged.
2.
Remove all expansion boards (see “Removing an Expansion Board”).
3.
Label and disconnect any cables connected to the system board.
4.
Remove the six screws securing the system board to the chassis.

5.
Ensuring you do not touch any components, carefully lift the system board out of the
chassis.
6.
If you are discarding the board, first remove any still-useable memory modules, the
processor assembly, and cables, as appropriate.
7.
Set the system board aside on a stable static-free surface.
