NOTE:
If a system password is set, you can't
enter Setup until you enter the password.
If it takes more than three tries to enter the correct password, power off the system and try
again. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above.
To remove a password, at the password prompt press

again when
the re-
enter prompt appears. Your password clears and you are no longer prompted to enter one
when you power on the system.
Keyboard Lock
The system supports a keyboard lock feature for additional security. The lock option ap-
pears on the Setup screen only after you have enabled a password. At this point in Setup,
the lock can be enabled or disabled.
To lock the keyboard, press
Ctrl + Alt + Back Space
. To unlock the keyboard, enter the
password. If the password is removed, this option is no longer available.
POWERPANEL OVERVIEW
The NEC Versa 6000 system gives the user a tool that simplifies changing the system con-
figuration settings discussed previously in this section, including power management.
PowerPanel appears in the system’s Program Manager area. It is a toolbar comprised of
system setting icons. For example, NEC provides a default PowerPanel toolbar. The first
five icons represent power management settings. The next six icons represent system set-
ings. The last icon, represented by the atom, is a permanent icon. Selecting the atom icon
opens the PowerPanel menu. Use the PowerPanel menu to edit or create a customized ver-
sion of PowerPanel.
