5-2 Using the System Drives and Bays
NEC Versa File Bay
The NEC Versa File Bay is the bay located at the rear of the system’s right side. Your
NEC Versa ships with a standard 3.5-inch, 1.44-MB diskette drive or a SuperDisk™
drive installed in the bay.
Use the file bay to install applications, create a BIOS update diskette, or to simply copy
files to and from your NEC Versa LXi notebook computer.

SuperDisk Drive
The SuperDisk drive offers many improvements on the standard diskette drive
technology, including faster data access, greater reliability, and higher recording
capacities. The drive uses the latest laser-servo (LS) technology, which writes to and
reads from specially designed 120-MB diskettes as well as standard 720-KB and
1.44-MB diskettes.
The SuperDisk drive offers the following features which are described after the figure.
