Instruction:
Warning: Engines with variable valve timing: Mark
camshafts, camshaft sprockets, camshaft adjusters
and related camshaft drive system components (as
applicable) with chalk or paint prior to removal or
dismantling to assist alignment on installation.
Removal/installation of timing chain requires:
-Engine removal.
-Removal of cylinder heads.
-Upper and lower sump removal.
Checking Valve Timing
1.
Install crankshaft alignment tool.
2.
Ensure crankshaft alignm
ent tool aligned with
Mark "
MP
" on crankshaft pulley.
3.
Tu
rn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation
until crankshaft timing pin can be installed.
4.
Rem
ove crankshaft timing pin.
