Manual part number: BE 1227

10.3.2 E002 Primary Voltage Dip too Low-Check Primary
Voltage
Fatal, meaning you have to power down to continue welding
No
Acknowledge, meaning the error will exist as long as the unit is powered on.
(Note, welding can continue while the error exists)
Yes
Description:
The control board senses the +15VDC power supply provided to it. This supply is
the one used to gate the primary IGBTs on, so it must be at 15VDC to turn the IGBTs
on reliably so no damage occurs. When the 15VDC dips down below 14.3VDC (1ms
during a weld, or 20ms while idle), this error will be displayed and if welding, the weld
will stop im- mediately. +15VDC is located at pins 1(+) and 11(-) of JP11 on the
control board.
The error will be futher classified into E002(A) or E002(B)
E002(A): The browout occured while the unit was not welding. Check the +15VDC
power supply on the control board with a meter then trace it back through the system
components per below. Likely items to check in order from most likely to least:
1. Power supply board fails.
2. Aux transformer failed.
3. Control Board 15VDC sensor circuit failed.
E002(B): The browout occured while the unit was welding. A scope would be needed
to see the voltage dip as it is too fast for a meter. Likely items to check in order from
most likely to least:
1. Primary voltage is sagging during the weld enough for the
+15VDC auxillary supply to dip.
2. Switch board gate circuits are damaged. Replace the switch boards.
