You should avoid the extreme manoeuvres which are part of the
test programme, but which are not part of the normal flying pattern for a
paraglider.
•
Turn reversals which swing the pilot out more than 45° from the
vertical
•
Pulling and releasing the brakes to produce pitching swings
more than 30° from the vertical
•
Stalls
•
Steep turns at too low a speed, which can turn into flat spins, or
asymmetric stalls
•
Closures induced with the risers
HARNESSES
The Estive was tested in the Standard category with a Gypa-aile
Estive harness (with hang points at 42cm, chest strap set to 50% and
38cm between the maillons).
Harnesses equipped with controls to damp out rolling depend
crucially on the correct adjustment of the geometry formed by the chest
and back straps, and also on the shoulder straps.
To benefit from spontaneous re-inflation while you are becoming
familiar with this model, and afterwards, we suggest you set up the
harness so that the maillons which join the harness to the risers are as
close as possible to the upper body while maintaining sufficient
separation:
•
Chest strap tightened 50%
•
Back adjustment to bring the upper body as upright as possible
while still being comfortable
RISERS
The Estive is delivered with 3 risers of equal 450 mm length, and
with an accelerator. The accelerator travel is 2cm on the A riser, and then
8 cm on the A and the B together.
Avoid using full acceleration in turbulent conditions.
