WARNING
Designed and manufactured with safety in mind, the FAÏAL, with it’s
great performances, gives access to a huge range of flying possibilities. As
with all aircraft, this equipment requires from its pilot maturity, ability to analyse
flying conditions, competence, good maintenance and care of the equipment.
This manual cannot replace an appropriate paragliding training and the indis-
pensable familiarisation to this model that you can request from your vendor.
We advise you to carry a rescue parachute at all times.
DESIGN
With the FAÏAL we reach the goal of offering to leisure pilots an inter-
mediate glider, gathering the most recent technological advances together with
performance and precise handling.
This elaborate canopy was designed without sacrificing any of the ease of use
that our products are renowned for. The FAÏAL is certified according to EN
926- 2006 standard.
MAINTENANCE
Avoid any unnecessary exposure to ultra violet light . Do not leave your
glider in a boot of a car in strong sunlight, this could significantly reduce the life
of the canopy. Any contact with hot object (>130°c) can significantly weaken
fabric or the lines. If this happens, return the wing for inspection.
Check your canopy has no insects or foreign bodies trapped in it when you are
packing it away. To keep inflation qualities as long as possible, avoid folding
the mylar reinforcements at the nose of the ribs. If you need to clean your
wing, use only cold water and soap. Do not store your wing when still humid or
dirty. In case of long storage, do not fold the wing too tight with the bag left
open.
The hands up speed of your wing should be checked by you or a suitably
qualified person using an anemometer. If the speed is more than 2 mph below
the lowest speed for your wing as shown in this manual, then the wing requires
a thorough inspection.
Every paraglider is prone to aging and must therefore be inspected regularly
(150 hours of flying time or 2 years for the first check, then according to our
after sales department recommendations). Before reselling, a proper inspec-
tion will discharge your responsibility towards your buyer. We strongly recom-
mend an inspection by our workshop; we are in the best position to guarantee
the state of our own designs.
We urge you to be extremely alert to all defects, damage or rupture discovered
to the suspension lines or the sail and to repair the damage as soon as possi-
ble.
If you return the wing to our work shop, please send the complete wing (risers
and original bag, without harness) accompanied by the present manual. So we
can properly report our findings.
Please also include a note with your name and adress, the reason for returning
the wing and identify the areas to be repaired (if any) either by marking them
with coloured tape, or noting them on the plan of the wing. Much of the repair
time can be wasted by having to search for the damages. Please return the
wing folded like an accordion.
