Care and Inspection of the
FITZ ROY
While the
KDO
is durable for real-world uses, it is still utilizing light-weight
materials. Like all paralgiders, avoid unnecessary exposure to UV, and do
not drag your wing on the ground. Do not store a folded wing, especially
when damp, in a hot car trunk or other confined space as this will
significantly reduce its lifetime . Contact with any hot object ( > 1 30 ° C ) can
significantly weaken the fabric or the lines. If this happens, it is imperative to
have a qualified repair center inspect the paraglider before flying. Make sure
the paraglider is free of any insects or other foreign objects before packing it
away. To preserve the excellent inflation and launching characteristics of the
KDO
, avoid bending the nylon reinforcing rods used to stiffen the Mylar ribs
at the air inlets. If you must clean your paraglider, wipe the surface gently
using only light, mild soap and cold water. For long-term storage, fold the
wing loosely and leave the bag open. Never, EVER, fold and store your wing
when it damp.
The hands up speed of your wing should be checked priodically by you are a
suitable person using an anemometer. If the speed is over 3 km/hr below the
lowest speed shown for your wing in this manual, then the wing rquires a
thorough inspection.
Every paraglider is prone to aging and must, therefore be inspected regularly
(1 50 hours of flying time or 2 years for teh first check, and thereafter
according to recommendations of our dealers, the inspection center, or the
factory. If you are planning on re-selling your wing, it is stongly advised that
the wing be given a thorough inspection by either the factory or an
authorized service center.
We urge you to be extremely alert to all damage or irregularities that can
occur during normal usage. In the event of unusual flight conditions, or
difficult take-offs or landings, you should give your wing an especially close
look. Have any issues that concern you immediately examined and repaired
by an authroized

service center, or at the factory.
If you return the wing to our workshop, please send the complete wing with its
risers and original bag, but without the harness, accompanied by this
manual. Include detailed notes and diagrams with your reason for returning
the wing. It is helpful and cost effective to identify problem areas with
colored tape, or some other way to call out damaged areas to the shop.
