NEWA Pgr gravel cleaner: vacuum cleaner for cleaning the aquarium substrate.

Congratulations for choosing this new vacuum expressly designed to facilitate cleaning within the aquarium.

Any other use is prohibited and, consequently, not covered by the manufacturer’s liability.

The cleaner is very effective, it has an excellent suction power; and quickly removes all dirt particles lying on the bottom of the aquarium. It 

is provided with a foam cartridge consisting of a series of inclined planes to which dirt clings. This system allows the user to easily eliminate 

dirt by just removing and cleaning the foam cartridge. The cartridge is washable and re-usable. It is very practical; you can easily hang it 

on the side of the aquarium in such a way that the filtered water can immediately return to the tank. A reduction of the water flow from 

the filter indicates that the cartridge is full and it should be rinsed. The suction pipe is easily handling and allows access to every part of the 

aquarium. All the components can be washed in running water. It is inexpensive to buy and inexpensive to run - no batteries are required, 

being powered by a powerful electric pump. It is practically indestructible if used correctly. It is very safe; every electrical part is perfectly 

insulated and completely submersible. Every component is made of unbreakable shock-resistant plastic. It is provided with a safety strainer 

which prevents suction of little fishes and gravel.

A through periodical cleaning of the tank is good for the balance of the aquarium and extends the life of its precious guests.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

The NEWA Pgr gravel cleaner is in conformity with official safety standards EN 60335-2-41. 

Caution: during installation and maintenance disconnect the apparatus from the electricity supply.

CAUTION

: This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with 

reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been 

given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards 

involved. Children shall not play with the appliance because this is not a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance 

shall not be made by children without supervision.

WARNING

: turn off and disconnect all the electrical equipment in the aquarium before carrying out any 

maintenance tasks.

3) The power cord must not be repaired or replaced. If it is damaged, replace the entire appliance.

4) Check that the voltage printed on the vacuum motor corresponds to the current in your country.

2) If the apparatus falls in the water, do not try to retrieve it, until the plug is disconnected. Always disconnect the apparatus immediately if 

the electrical components become wet.

5) The flex should be connected to the electrical socket so that a loop is formed below the level of the socket, in order that water can not run 

along the flex from the tank to the socket.

6) Always disconnect the plug when the apparatus is not in use, before inserting or taking off its components and before maintenance. Do 

not try to disconnect.

7) The apparatus is only for internal use. 

8) The apparatus must not be allowed to run dry.

9) The apparatus must not be used with liquid over 35°C.

10) Always check that the apparatus is hanging securely on the aquarium before using.

11) Read and follow every instruction on the apparatus and in the directions.

12) It is important that the apparatus - like all electrical components in the aquarium - should be protected by a circuit breaker with a primary 

current Idn ≤ 30 mA

INSTALLATION AND USE

NEWA Pgr gravel cleaner is suitable for every kind of aquarium where it is possible to hang it on a wall of the tank.

Installation is particularly easy with open aquariums or tanks provided with covers designed for hanging filters.

The apparatus also works even if the rim of the aquarium is thicker than the bracket, which can be partially fitted.

But it is essential that the unit is secure before using.

WARNING: PLASTIC PARTS COULD BE DAMAGED DURING TRANSPORT. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO CHECK BEFORE USING AND TO 

ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO LEAKS.

1) Fill the cleaner to the top with tap water. (See picture 2).

2) Wipe all external surfaces of the filter and place it on an even surface covered with a cloth or paper.

3) Check for leaks.

4) If there is a leak, return the NEWA Pgr gravel cleaner to the retailer in order to inspect or replace it.

5) If there are no losses of water, proceed to install as shown here below.

6) Decide where on the aquarium the cleaner is to be hung, so that water can return freely into the aquarium.

7) Position the unit on the side of the aquarium where access is easiest. 

Check that the cleaner is secure and steady before use.
