Nextel Connection Manager User Guide
Internet Browser
Choose this application type to start the Internet browser upon connection establishment. The system’s default
Internet browser is selected by
Nextel Connection Manager
. It is possible to specify a default website address
in the
URL
field causing the browser to start this URL on connection rather than the browser's usual Home Page.
Compression software
Nextel offers an optimization service for iDEN packet data connections. This service is a client/server solution
that accelerates the effective speed of connections by using compression and optimization of various protocols.
The
Compression Level
drop down box allows the user to specify the level of compression to be applied for the
session. Note that the chosen setting will impact the quality of data or applications run over the connection (, i.e.
if the compression level is set to high, then the quality of animations, images, etc. will decrease).
The
Block media type
options
allow various media types to be blocked completely during the connection. For
example, if any audio files are blocked, then no audio files in any format may be transferred while exploring a
website on the Internet. The selection is optional, and any combination of media type (
Animation, Audio, Applet,
Images and Video
) may be chosen.
Proxy Server
Address
: The IP address or Host name of the Speed proxy server. This field is mandatory (normally pre-set).
Please do not change this field.
Port
: The Port number of the compression software server. This field is mandatory (normally pre-set). Please do
not change this field.
