4.4.2 Blocking in passive mode
This is the procedure to block at the rim center by
decentering the optical center.
When PAS (Passive) is selected for the layout mode,
how much and in what direction the optical center
should be decentered appears at PAS after lens
layout is finished.
The on-the-frame-center blocking can be achieved by
decentering the optical center as indicated.
1. Mark at the optical center of a lens with a
lensmeter.
See Step 1 of “4.4.1 Blocking in active mode”
(p. 4-12).
2. Block the convex surface of the lens with a
suction cup.
Decenter the optical center in accordance with
the indication at PAS .
e.g. PAS :
→
2.0
:
→
5.0
Decenter the optical center 2.0 mm to the right
and 5.0 mm to the bottom to block.
NOTE
• For blocking a polycarbonate lens, be sure to use a lens cup in order to prevent the cup
from moving during processing.
